Land of the Lost

Posted by monkee | MOvies | Thursday 23 September 2010 20:58

Will Ferrell plays a Palaeontologist called Rick Marshall,
with a theory about time travelling. Nobody believes him,
accept for a woman called Holly. Rick builts a time travel
machine thingy and with Holly and a trailer trash guy
called Stan gets sucked into a space time vortex…

Dinosaurs, creepy creatures and very nice enviroments
is what you get in this movie. A couple of funny pieces,
but not enough Will Ferrell humor, what I think is a shame,
being a huge fan..

The movie wasn’t that awesome, but nicely done with special
effects..A nice movie to spend your evening with.

My rating:

Lonesome Jim

Posted by monkee | MOvies | Thursday 23 September 2010 18:49

Movie from 2005,
director Steve Buscemi
writer James C. Strouse
Drama.

Jim, 27, wants to have a nervous breakdown and goes home
to his parents place where his 32 year old brother also lives.
But at home he can’t break down, cause his brother
tried to kill himself and Jim has to do all his chores.
The company of his parents gets involved with the police and
then there is Anika, a nurse with a son that adolizes Jim.
A lot of  issues in Jim’s life that aren’t making it easier for him..

Casey Affleck (yes ze brother) and Liv Tyler..
My opinion: Casey Affleck plays a depressed guy, so badly
that you want him to commit suicide..
There’s more emotion in a muppet.
Liv Tyler, as if it’s her first movie, very bad acting.
Do not use inexperienced kids to act in a movie!
I very stiff movie, very bad chosen music, dramatic dialogues.
The whole vibe of the movie is cheap..

My rating:

Movie: Igor

Posted by monkee | MOvies | Thursday 11 February 2010 23:13

The Plot:
Igor, a helper with a hunchback, isn’t as dumb as people think.
His only wish: making his own creation. When that happens,
it isn’t quite what Igor had in mind. A lovely, funny movie
for the whole family. With a  suicidal, immortal rabbit and
a brain in a jar there’s enough to laugh about.

My rating:

MOvie: Watchmen

Posted by monkee | MOvies | Sunday 2 August 2009 11:22

Awful!! Ok I know it isn’t the best way to start a “review”
but that was the only thing that came in mind when the  movie was over.
The first part of the movie was Awesome, I immediately was drawn into
the story, but after I think what must have been half an hour, the movie became
a crashing rocket after a beautiful take off.

I love “psychological movies” and I knew the story was more about the
characters than the action, but for me only Rorschach was compelling.
The whole story about normal people dressing up as superheroes was nice,
but it took the whole movie down in my opinion. The fighting scenes were
lame, accept for the fighting scenes of Rorschach. He was the narrator in the
movie, but a movie of 2 hours and 42 minutes on his shoulders didn’t make
it awesome for me. The erotic scene between Silk spectre and Night Owl was
lame, it had little additional value. Let’s put some sex in a movie cause it sells!
In the comic the romance between them was subtle, stick to that!
And the fact that Silk Spectre smokes in the comic and not in the movie, come
on! If you focus on the personality of the Watchmen, give them all one!

My Rating of Watchmen:

Movie: Stigmata

Posted by monkee | MOvies | Sunday 12 July 2009 11:46

Horror movies,  I can’t take them most of the time,
but I love to see them. Imagine a girl on the couch
with a pillow in her hands..that’s me..

Yesterday Stigmata was on TV, the genre; Horror.
I was home alone and wanted to watch this movie,
I screened my room for the nearest pillow, but
they better could have changed the genre into Thriller.
I was surprised Patricia Arquette played the role of Frankie,
a girl that works in a barbershop and loves to party.
She receives a package from her mum with a rosary, from
then on strange things happen with Frankie. She starts bleeding
from her wrists, head, back and feet eventually and with help
from a vicar knows that she’s suffering from Stigmata.

Is he able to save her from dying?
I have to say, the message of the movie is Awesome Sauce!!
Horror…No WAY!

My rating for Stigmata:

Movie: Coraline

Posted by monkee | MOvies | Tuesday 30 June 2009 15:49

In one word I can tell you how the movie was; Awesomesaus!
Coraline, sad but true didn’t play in every cinema and soon they
played it only round noon, because people thought this movie
was only for kiddies.. Well maybe that’s true, but what about
the older kiddies, like me for instance! So I waited a while and
watched it at home with some friends.

The story is intriguing;
a girl moved with her mum and dad to a small ville in a pink house
(hurray for pink houses!). Her mum and dad both are busy with
work and don’t pay attention to her. Then she finds a door behind
the wallpaper in a room and crawls through. She ends up in the same
house but her parents suddenly changed into loving and caring people,
just what she wanted! But is that what she really wants?

My rating for Coraline:

movie: Little miss sunshine

Posted by monkee | MOvies | Friday 19 June 2009 12:08

Little miss sunshine an awesome movie about an akward family.
The chubby daughter is obsessed with a beauty pageant and when
one of the kids can’t go to the pageant she can compete with the
other girls. But the family needs to travel to the other side of
America to attend the beauty pageant, from Albuquerque to
California. They take the old Volkswagen Type 2 to make the
roadtrip and you can imagine how that trip went.

The whole family is an unique piece of art.
The grandfather is a drugaddict, the father a failed motivational
speaker about winners and losers, the mother a chainsmoking
housewife that doesn’t do a great job, the brother obsessed with
Nietzsche and taking a vow not to speak for 9 months until he
gets into the Air Force, the 7 year old daughter a pageant addict,
without the superficial beauty and a uncle who tried to commit
suicide after a failed romance. Well put them in a VW Type 2 and
you got yourself a great movie.

My rating for Little miss sunshine:

Movie: The Butterfly Tattoo

Posted by monkee | MOvies | Thursday 11 June 2009 11:10

Spoiler alert!

Sometimes you think, hey! don’t know this one, let’s watch it!
And well it can go two ways; It’s good or it’s bad..ok it can be
ok as well, but you know what I mean.
Yesterday watched the Butterfly Tattoo, because I liked the
title of the movie and wanted to watch something I didn’t
know anything about. That was a bad idea….

The movie started off kinda nice, A vague shot of a bloody
person and a guy hanging over her, aiming a nailgun to
his heart…You hear a bang and the movie starts.
” This is a good start”  I thought, but the beginning was the
only interesting thing about the movie..and even that wasn’t
that good. After 10 minutes I went to Imdb.com to find out
what the whole meaning of the movie was, because I didn’t
get it..

The imdb score was a 5 and the plot was kinda interesting.
But I think the pages of the plot were missing or burned or
cofffee stained..Or maybe they didn’t read the book
properly or backwards because the whole logic of the plot was
hard to find in the movie itself. Damn the way to ruin a movie.

Don’t explain the actors in the movie; nothing wrong with that,
but please make it clear one way or another, because you DO
want to know what the story is. You can not identify the character
and can’t place yourself in that person..You don’t have any bond
with them. Don’t be vague, because you just get annoyed!!

Don’t put a lot of attention in a lovescene that misses the key
ingredient; Love!! I think there is more love between two
rabbits making love! And please after one time you know how
bad the chemistry between the actors was!

Dramatic how the movie goes from one “story” to another
without knowing what the story is about. Shallow parts that
make a horrible story..

My rating for The Butterfly Tattoo:
