Card Game: Munchkin!

Posted by monkee | GAmes | Tuesday 25 August 2009 14:28

Make a class, a race, find weapons, curses, kick in doors and kill monsters!!
Munchkin is a card game with a lot of humor. There are several versions of the
game. I played Munchkin Booty and Munchkin Cthulhu.

You start with a level one character, 2 door cards and 2 treasure cards. On the table
you have one pile with door cards and one pile with treasure cards. The door cards
contain creatures with different levels, classes, different races, curses, weapons etc.
The first character that ends up being level 10 wins the game. Easy as that.
You have to kick in the first door (draw the first card and put it face up on the table)
and then fight a creature, if it’s one. You can only win if you’re one level higher than the
creature and you lose if the creature is higher levelled than you are. But you can ask
help from one other player to kill the monster. But the two of you need to be a higher level
than the creature.  You receive a level and treasure(s) when you killed the creature.

You can help other players, but you can screw them over as well. Some cards will give you the
opportunity to place an extra monster on the table. Curses can prevent players to receive help
from another player, disable weapons and give phobias for instance.

My rating for Munckin:

One thing, a dice and chips to keep score of the level are not included in the game.
I think that’s a bit lame, but hey! It’s still awesome..

another day

Finally some sun without the clouds in my life!!
Yesterday got some bad news that my application for payment got lost..
I’m working my ass off to find a job, but at the moment its gooseberry time.
In the time being I should get money from the government, but my application
went missing and I missed out almost 2 months of payment.

I had to fill in a new form and send it by mail with an enclosure, explanation
and my opinion about the whole issue. The envelope was almost crawling to the
mailbox when I received a phone call from the UWV that my application was approved.
I receive my money asap! So the envelope crawled into the garbage can.

One thing I don’t have worry about anymore!
Now find myself a nice job!

Had a great weekend of board gaming with friends. Played Funkenschlag again, but didn’t
had any luck this time. played Fiji, but realised I’m missing a part in my brain to understand
the logical gambling part of that game. Played Party and Co extreme, I find it very amusing.
At the end we played  Munckin Booty and Munchkin Cthulhu! Awesome sauce games!
You must have Munchkin in your games collection! Buy it if you don’t!

Board game: Funkenschlag

Posted by monkee | GAmes | Monday 17 August 2009 20:53

Funkenschlag is a board game that’s  all about creating power to
supply cities. You have to buy power plants to induce energy.
You have to bid for the plant of your choice. You have to buy
resources to make the plant induce energy; coal, oil, garbage,
or uranium. The cool thing; a couple of plants don’t need resources,
wind or a fusion plant are free..

The less resources on the board, the more you have to pay for them.
Every plant tells you how many resources you have to buy to provide
energy and how many houses receive energy.

After buying your plants and resources, you have to place houses, to give
the cities energy. The first house costs 10, then 15 and finally 20.
As you can figure out now, you can place 3 houses in one city
(1 house per player). Every round you have to bid on a plant (or pass),
have to buy resources (or not if you have enough to give energy to all
your houses or don’t have enough money) and expand your energy empire
(if you have enough money)

For every house you can provide energy to you receive money. The more houses,
the more money. The key is in my opinion, never buy more houses than you can
provide of energy. At the end, the player with the most houses which he or she
can provide with energy wins the game. One other thing; make sure you have enough
time to play it! One game can take up to three hours of gaming fun!

I played it two times now…and won both of them..Muahahahaha!
Damn I’m a capitalist.. *sigh*

My rating for Funkenschlag:

the story of monkee

Posted by monkee | MOnkeebizznizz | Monday 17 August 2009 14:21

It’s been a while. 2 months without a job.
Damn time flies when you haven’t got a lot to do.
I keep myself busy with looking for work, doing stuff in
the house, watching TV and hanging out with friends.
Same old same old..

Yesterday I went to the supermarket to buy some groceries.
It looked like it was the last day people could buy stuff before the apocalypse.
It was too crowded and I couldn’t take my time walking around without getting
crashed into by  shopping carts or baskets.
Terrible vibe, people were annoyed, stressed out and weren’t paying
attention to other customers. I had a hard time staying calm, but I took
a  couple of deep breaths and continued shopping as if I were the only person around.

When I arrived at the register, the line was huge. One of the cashiers
wanted to go on break and closed down her register while a lot of people were waiting
to pay their groceries. I still can’t believe it, she left the people who are paying her
salary waiting and left her colleagues with too many people to help.
Being a cashier was my first job ever and when the lines at the registers were too long,
I didn’t go on break until all customers had been helped out. Good customer service is hard to come by these
days.

Finally after waiting in line for 20 minutes, I went outside and an old (drunk) man was blocking
the way with his bicycle, so I waited for him. He just stared at me and didn’t move, so I wanted
to move around him. He got mad and said “No way!” and moved, blocking me again.
The only thing I could say was “you could ask me nicely” . The man climbed on his bicycle
grumbling something I happily couldn’t make out. I managed to stay calm, but at home I needed to
vent my frustrations.

Nice people are few and far between when a supermarket is a disaster area.
